Nut Toffee

6 ozs sugar
2 ozs syrup or 2 ozs more sugar
3 ozs butter
1 ozs nuts

Throw the nuts into boiling water, then take out and skin them. Put the syrup, sugar, and butter in a saucepan and boil for 2/3 minutes. To see if it is done drop a little into cold water, take it out quickly and if it will snap between your fingers the toffee is done (however when the toffee is half done throw in the nut and stir).

Treacle Toffee

1 lb raw sugar
¼ butter
2 tablespoon treacle
2 teaspoon vinegar
1 cup of cold water

Boil for one hour.
