Cocktails

Cocktails are very easily prepared. When a recipe refers to ‘stirring’, means a long spoon should be used to stir the mixture vigorously (ice should first be added to the glass). Where the recipe refers to ‘shaking’, first put some ice into the cocktail shaker, pour in the necessary ingredients and shake thoroughly. Then strain into glass. Always serve cocktails in a glass which is large enough for a fair measure without filling to the brim.

Blue Hawaii

  • Measure White Rum and Cream
  • Quarter measure Blue Curacao
  • Quarter measure Cointreau
  • Ice

Shake.

Brandy Alexander

  • Measure of Brandy
  • Measure of Tia Maria
  • Measure of cream
  • Ice

Shake.

Brandy Sour

  • 2 tablespoons Brandy
  • 1 dessertspoon lemon juice
  • 1 dessertspoon sugar syrup
  • Little crushed ice

Into cocktail shaker or blend
Soda water (optional)
Decorate with mint and maraschino cherry

Bronx

  • One half Gin
  • One quarter Dry Vermouth
  • One quarter Sweet Vermouth
  • Juice of half small orange

Shake and strain.

California Dreaming

  • 3 measures Pineapple
  • 2 dashes Kirsch
  • 1 dash lemon
  • Ice

Blend and add Champagne

Classic Champagne

  • Sugar cube
  • Champagne
  • Dash of Angostura Bitters

Collins

  • Measure Gin
  • 1 lemon
  • Teaspoon sugar
  • Dash of Angostura Bitters

Stir and add Soda

Corcovado

  • Measure Blue Curacao
  • Measure Tequila
  • Measure Drambuie
  • Ice

Shake and add Lemonade

Coronation

  • Measure Dry Sherry
  • Measure Dry Vermouth
  • Dash of Maraschino
  • 2 dashes of Angostura
  • 3 measures White Wine
  • Ice

Mix with Soda

Daiquiri

  • 2 parts Bacardi or Rum
  • 1 part lime or lemon juice
  • Ice
  • Dash of Angostura Bitters or Grenadine

Shake or Blend

Dubonnet

  • One half Gin
  • One half Dubonnet
  • Twist of Lemon Peel

Stir and strain.

Dry Martini

  • Two thirds Gin
  • One third Dry Vermouth
  • Twist of Lemon Peel

Shake and strain.

Fifty-Fifty

  • One half Gin
  • One half Dry Vermouth

Stir.

Foxhound

  • Measure brandy
  • Half measure Cranberry Juice
  • Quarter measure Kummel
  • Dash of lemon
  • Ice

Shake.

Gimlet

  • Two thirds Gin
  • One third Lime Juice Cordial
  • Splash Soda Water

Stir.

Gin Fizz

  • Measure of Gin
  • Little sugar

Stir, and fill up with Soda Water.

Gin Highball

  • Measure of Gin
  • Twist of Lemon Peel

Fill with Ginger Ale.

Gin Pineapple

  • Measure of Gin
  • Measure of Pineapple Juice
  • Little sugar

Stir and fill with Soda Water.

Gin Sling

  • Measure of Gin
  • Juice of half lemon
  • Little Grenadine

Stir and add Soda Water.

Gin Sour

  • Measure of Gin
  • Juice of half lemon
  • Little sugar

Stir, fill with Soda Water and ice and add slice of Lemon Peel.

Golden Cadillac

  • Measure Cointreau
  • Measure White Crème de Cacao
  • Half measure Orange
  • 2 dashes Galliano
  • Measure Cream
  • Ice

Shake.

Havana Beach

  • Measure white Rum
  • 2 measures Pineapple
  • Teaspoon sugar
  • Half fresh Lime
  • Ice

Blend and add Ginger Ale.

Hong Kong Fizz

  • Half measure each Gin
  • Vodka
  • Yellow Chartreuse
  • Green Chartreuse
  • Benedictine
  • Lemon

Shake and top-up with Soda.

Imelda

  • Measure Cream Sherry
  • Half measure Kirsch
  • Lemon and Orange juice

Blend, add ice and Champagne.

Jersey Lily

  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • Ice

Stir.

John Collins

  • Measure of Gin
  • Juice of half lemon
  • Little sugar

Stir and fill with Soda Wate.r

Julia

  • Measure Amaretto
  • Measure White Rum
  • Thick Cream
  • 2 oz Strawberries
  • Ice

Blend.

  • Measure of Vodka
  • Half measure Crème de Noyaux
  • 2 dashes Orgeat
  • Half measure Kirsh
  • Measure Cream
  • Ice

Shake.

Larchmont

  • 2 measures White Rum
  • Measure Grand Marnier
  • Half measure Lime

Add Ice and shake

Mai Tai

  • Half measure Dark Rum
  • Half measure Tequila
  • Half measure Triple Sec
  • Measure Light Rum
  • Measure Apricot Brandy and orange
  • Dash of Angostura and Orgeat
  • 2 dashes Grenadine
  • Ice

Blend.

Manhattan

  • 2 measures Rye Whisky
  • Measure Sweet Vermouth
  • Dash of Angostura
  • Ice

Stir.

Montmartre

  • Measure Brandy
  • Half measure Yellow Chartreuse
  • Dash of Lemon and Angostura

Shake and add Champagne.

Musk Melon

  • Measure Light Rum
  • ¼ cup diced ripe Melon
  • ¼ measure lime and orange
  • Ice

Blend.

Parson’s Particular

  • 2 measures fresh Orange
  • Measure fresh Lemon
  • Egg Yolk
  • 4 dashes Grenadine
  • Ice

Shake.

Pink Chevrolet

  • 2 oz Strawberries
  • Measure Fraise
  • Dash lemon
  • Ice

Blend and add Champagne.

Pink Gin

Swirl just a few drops of Angostura Bitters around the glass and add Gin (and water if required).

Pink Lady

  • Measure Gin
  • Dash Lime
  • 2 dashes Grenadine
  • ½ Egg White
  • Half measure Cream
  • Ice

Shake.

Rusty Nail

  • Measure Scotch
  • Measure Drambuie
  • Ice

Stir.

Shanghai Gin Fizz

  • Half measure Gin
  • Half measure Lemon
  • Half measure Benedictine
  • Half measure Yellow Chartreuse

Shake and top up with Soda.

Silver Jubilee

  • Measure Crème de Banana
  • Measure Gin and Cream
  • Ice

Shake.

Singapore Sling

  • One half Gin

  • One quarter Lemon Juice

Fill with Soda Water.

  • Teaspoon sugar

Shake and top up with Soda.

Southern Peach

  • Measure Southern Comfort
  • Measure Peach Brandy
  • Dash of Angostura
  • Measure Cream
  • Ice

Shake.

Sweet Martini

  • One third Gin
  • Two thirds Sweet Vermouth
  • Add Cherry

Stir and strain.

Thirders

  • One third Gin
  • One third Dry Vermouth
  • One third Sweet Vermouth

Stir.

White Lady

  • One half Gin
  • One quarter Cointreau
  • One quarter Lemon Juice

Shake and strain.

Zaza

  • Measure Gin
  • Measure Sweet Vermouth
  • Half measure Cointreau

Pour over Ice and add Orange juice.
